Crown

The Crowning Purpose of Life

"Purpose is the only thing that can be transformed."
~ Rhondell

The sphere of Crown (Keter or Kether) of the Tree of Life is referred to as the Concealed Intelligence. This uppermost sphere of the Tree is transcendent — existing above the body of the Tree of Life just as a king's crown sits above his head and does not belong to his body. The author of the kabbalisitc book of Zohar calls the sublime and transcendent intelligence of this sphere "the most hidden of all hidden things." The extremely subtle and yet powerful and pervasive energy of this sphere is beyond the comprehension of the ordinary human mind. Just as the laws of physics which are formless and intangible and yet they uphold the entire Universe, it is the case with the intelligence of the sphere of Crown. It is concealed, yet it upholds all.

Crown represents the Divine Will and limitless potential, the pure Light which is the source of all and everything, it is the Prime Cause and the original divine intention for the evolutionary course of Creation. The absolute beginning of any creative act is the Will, the intention, the desire, or the purpose behind it. According to the Kabbalah, the main purpose behind Creation is so that "God can behold God," and Humanity plays a central role in accomplishing this task.

Spiritually speaking, the sphere of Crown is the realm of pure formless consciousness, beyond all opposites, beyond time and space. It is the place of transcendental mystical experiences, spiritual ecstasy, pure enlightenment, union with the Infinite, and merciful bliss. Albert Einstein called this experience "Cosmic religious feeling":

The religious geniuses of all ages have been distinguished by this kind of religious feeling, which knows no dogma and no God conceived in man's image; so that there can be no church whose central teachings are based on it. . . . How can cosmic religious feeling be communicated from one person to another, if it can give rise to no definite notion of God and no theology? In my view, it is the most important function of art and science to awaken this feeling and keep it alive in those who are receptive to it.

Psychologically speaking, Crown is also the sphere signifying the divine purpose behind each of our individual lives. This authentic purpose cannot manifest until we surrender our insatiable hankering after "false gods" or P.A.P.A.: Pleasure, Approval, Power, and Attention. Kabbalists maintain that purpose or intention (Kavvanah) is the most important aspect of any act.

In her public seminars, private sessions, and writings, Dr. Mitra provides instructions as how to identify one's true motives in daily life. She also teaches how to transform our animalistic and egotistical purpose of living to a higher creative and spiritual purpose. See Professional Services, Events, and English Articles to learn more. The following is an inspired invocation that was gifted to Dr. Mitra during a crisis of purpose. This powerful prayer illuminates the guiding purpose behind Mitra's inner Work as well as her outer activities.

A Kabbalistic Prayer

May the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be acceptable unto You, O Lord, our Rock and our Strength, our Friend and our Redeemer.

May we receive Wisdom and Understanding, to Know Your Ways and to manifest Your Will here on Earth.

May we grow in consciousness and use our talents to contribute to "TIKKUN-OLAM," the restoration of wholeness and balance to the Universe.

May our thoughts, feelings, and actions be consciously directed toward establishing the harmonious union of all Opposites, so that Male and Female, Spirit and Matter, Jew and Gentile, East and West, Man and Nature, and Religion and Science shall be creatively united.

May we see the day when the Lamb and the Lion lie together in Peace. Amen.
